General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Notice

The Summer School of Classics (with the distinctive title and hereinafter “Corfu Summer School”) is compliant with the new Data Protection Law no. 4624/2019, as incorporated in the Greek legislation on 28 August 2019, based on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.

It is the new European Union data protection legislation, which aims to give people more control over how their personal data is collected, used, stored and shared. It is designed to strengthen and unify the data security measures of businesses in the European Union.

We ask for your information in order to process your application and to make sure that we can cater for your requirements. We pass on relevant data, such as dietary requirements, names and ages to our collaborating partners in order to ensure that we can accommodate you better. We share your data with the Ionian University Research Committee’s competent departments, in order to process your registration,payment of fees and other expenses, as well as other tasks related to your registration to the programme.

We will abide by Greek and EU law, if data is required by authorities, although this will be on a case by case basis. For our compliance, you must confirm that you give consent for us to use your data in this way, so that you can attend our courses. We will not hold personal information about you beyond December of the year you attend the course. You can give us permission to use your contact details, if you want to receive information in the future about our courses. In case you do not want to receive such information, please let us know so that we may delete your contact details.
